Well, some of you may have heard by now...but yesterday I was in a small car accident. I'm fine, but just really mad about the whole thing! I wasn't really feeling well all day, so I was in full on bedrest mode...on the couch. I was watching the clock and knew that I had to run to work to drop of some thank you cards that I FINALLY finished, but I just couldn't get motivated to get up and shower until about 4:00. (I know...gross) So I tried to hurry and take a shower, throw on some clothes and flip flops and get in the car. First of all, let me say that I've driven a total of about 2 times in the last 3 weeks since I've been on bedrest, so to say I was a little rusty and nervous about it is an understatement! My gut feeling told me not to do it, because I was shaking! ha! It's funny how nervous you can get about something you've done for a long time! Anyway, I decided to keep going even though traffic was terrible! To make a long story short, I merged into the turning lane (the same turning lane I've merged into to get to work for the last 2 years!) and then all of a sudden I heard a "crunch" and then a loud scraping sound all the way down the right side of my car! It turns out that someone who was headed straight in the turning lane and who was at a complete stop, decided she needed to turn left at the last second and merged over (I'm pretty sure without looking) and ran right into me! Luckily, neither one of us were going fast, and were not hurt! I went ahead and turned left at the light and pulled into a parking lot and called Ryan and 911...waiting for the other car to follow me, but never saw her! I thought, "great...a hit and run!" The dispatcher from 911 said that she had gone a different direction and she had called in also, so one cop dealt with her and another with me. So, I never saw her or the damage to her car. Again, I'm so thankful that the babies and I are okay, but I'm just really bummed about the whole thing! We were getting ready to trade my car in and get...you know...a VAN! But now, it will have to be in the shop for awhile, so we may be bringing the babies home in Ryan's car. Of course Ryan is being very positive and calm about the whole thing and I'm being my usual dramatic self!!! So the moral of this story is that I should have followed my gut feeling and stayed on the couch!!!
Even though that all happened, I also got a wonderful surprise yesterday too! Ryan and I have been trying to decide on a new video camera to get for when the babies get here and last night at church I found out that our sweet youth group went in together and bought us one! Of course, Ryan has a variety of video cameras, but not one that I know how to operate! They are all too technical! I wanted one that I could use day to day to film our little gals and I'm so excited to get it! So a big thank you goes out to the CITY ON A HILL YOUTH and their parents!!! We love you guys...that was such a thoughtful gift!!!
So until next time...
