So much to say...so little time

SOOOOO....it's been almost 2 months since my last post and WOW alot has happened! Here are a few pictures to get started...these are not even half the ones I would love to put up...but there is just not time!

This is the night before I had the girls

I don't even look nervous!

I was shaking like a leaf here!!!

HERE THEY ARE! This was shortly after they were born!

This is when they were around 3 weeks old. (Daddy took these!)

Sweet Lily.

Sweet Lucy.

And this is pretty much how it is....Lily like mommy (a drama queen!) and Lucy like daddy (layed back!)

COUSINS! These are my sister's kiddos...Rylee and Brock.

(Lucy looks like she's saying "HELP ME!")

Meemaw with Lucy

Meemaw with Lily

My sweet Ole Daddy with both the girls

Oledaddy with 4 of his Great Grandbabies

This is how my living room looks now!

And my countertops...

All the bottles, nipples, medicine, formula, and burpcloths

(this is what I get ready everynight!)

I took this picture today of a bloom from our Magnolia tree.

We planted this tree in honor of our sweet baby Addison who went to be with Jesus in 2007. We planted in the Spring of 2008 and WOW has it grown! It just reminds us of the short, but wonderful time we had with her. We miss her still.

Okay...so most of you know what has happened, but just in case you don't, I will give you a VERY QUICK run down of the last 8 weeks. If I told you every detail, I would be here all night!
So here goes..
March 24th: Went for an ultrasound and found out that there was a big difference in the girls' weights and was told I would be admitted that night and have the girls the next morning....WHAT A WHIRLWIND DAY THAT WAS!

March 25th: Had my beautiful twin girls, Lily and Lucy by C-section at 8:27a.m. and 8:28a.m. Lily being first, weighed in at a hefty 3lbs14oz and Lucy at 5lbs1oz. They were healthy for the most part, Lucy had to have some oxygen for a couple of hours and a feeding tube for a few days. We were in the hospital a total of 10 days.
Week 2: We overdosed Lucy on accident...yeah...parents of the year! We gave her 10 times the dose of medicine we were supposed to and she ended up in the ER and then medflighted to Children's. Luckily my sister was here to stay with Lily while we were in Children's for a couple of nights. Although it seemed like a nightmare for us, we saw children in much worse conditions and parents wondering if their children would ever get to come home after months in the ICU. We were so blessed to only have to stay a short time. When we got home, my sister stayed for a couple more days and then my mom came to stay....and Ryan and I both had a severe stomach virus! That's when we realized parents don't have time to get sick, but thankfully my mom was here to help! But it only seemed to get worse....

Week 3: My mother-n-law and sister-n-law came to stay and on the first night they were there, I developed Mastitis...the worst pain ever! I had a high fever for several days, was allergic to the antibiotic and thought I would never get better! Again, thank God family was here to help! After they left however, I had the worst migraine ever and had to call them back down for one more night! DOES IT EVER END YOU ASK???? Not yet...
Week 4: I notice Lucy is very pale and is not eating very well...so what do I do? Take her back to the ER while Ryan stayed with Lily. We were there for almost 5 hours to discover that she was pretty anemic. We went to the doctor the next day and he started her on Iron and Zantac...she started to look and feel much better right away! Thank God for that mother's intuition I guess!!! Is it over yet? Nope...

Week 5 & 6: I start to feel like I have pulled a muscle and I couldn't lay down without losing my breath. The pain continued to get worse and I made yet another trip to the doctor (family doctor) and he too thought it was a pulled muscle, but his prescriptions DID NOT HELP AT ALL!!! So after explaining the pain to my sister, she told me that she thought it was trapped gas...in my shoulder and ribs? I called my OBGYN this time and she suspected the same thing...either that or gallbladder...great! :-( This pain went on for 2 weeks and in the meantime my dad lets us know that my Ole Daddy (his dad) may be in his last days and was in the hospital. He had not met the girls, and I knew we had to go home to Jonesboro. It was our first big trip and I frantically packed the WHOLE house and we left the next morning. We were able to get pictures with him and the girls and also some precious video that I can't wait to show them when they are older. They also got to meet their Meemaw who is in a nursing home there in Paragould. It was a hectic weekend...the weather was awful and I of course was still in pain!

In the middle of all that, we resigned from our positions as youth pastors from our church. We are still searching for the church that God would have us in. I also put my 2 weeks in at work when I made the decision to be a stay at home mommy!

May 12th: My dad called early that morning to tell me that my sweet Ole Daddy had gone home to Heaven. It was so hard to hear that he was really gone. Some of my most favorite childhood memories are staying with him and my meemaw. She has Alzheimer's now, so I feel like I really have lost them both. (The meemaw I used to know atleast) We made another trip home for the visitation and funeral this past weekend. It was an emotionally and physically exhausting weekend. I am so glad he got to meet the girls...the pictures with them were one of the last to be taken. I miss him.

NOW....I THINK WE'RE PRETTY MUCH CAUGHT UP!!! What a crazy 8 weeks huh? Now you know why I haven't been blogging!!!! But hopefully I can slip in here to post more often. I may not be an everyday blogger though because of my two girls who love to be held!!!

I'm loving being a mommy though...it is a very hard job, but their sweet little faces make it all worth it! I had a great first mother's day...Ryan got me a 1 hour massage, a facial, a manicure and a pedicure! He also got me Rascal Flatts' new CD! He's great! The girls are sleeping really well at night...they usually sleep 4 hours after we put them down the first time and then they eat and go right back to sleep for another 3 or four hours! During the day though, they are not big nappers! That is good so they will sleep at night, but bad for me and all the housework that piles up!
Ryan is a HUGE help! He gets up with me at night so we can get them changed, fed, and back to bed in record time! We are getting really good at this thing! We have started to brave restaurants and other public places too! We are REALLY, REALLY good at traveling considering we have had to do it quite often lately! We stay pretty tired most of the time, but like the song says "It won't be like this for long" And honestly, that makes me sad! They are growing so fast...I can't keep up! I just can't believe they will be 8 weeks old on Wednesday!!! I love them more than anything in this world!

After losing our daughter Addison Grace at birth on November 20th, 2007...we thought we may never have children and now we stand amazed that God has blessed us with double the joy, smiles, and love with our little girls!

The girls' have their first photo shoot this Saturday! I'm really excited for all the little naked shots we're gonna get! (We're just now doing the newborn pictures because of all of the above chaos that has gone on!!!)

Well, I must go prepare bottles and maybe catch some Z's before the little ones are up again!

Thank you all for the prayers and gifts throughout my pregnancy and the last 8 weeks!

God Bless,

  1. Wow! What a busy two weeks! We had an overdose scare with Mackenzie once. Sean acciendently left the lid of the children's Tylenol and Mackenzie drank a bunch of it. It's a scary thing. Ours wasn't near as scary as yours, though!

So sorry to hear about your grandfather. My grandpa passed away last October. It was nice to know he was God and no longer in pain, but it's still so hard.

I had no idea about Addison. Hope I'm not being too nosey by asking what happened. Lily and Lucy are so beautiful.

  2. Your sister sounds like she is ONE SMART COOKIE! Saving your overdosed child AND diagnosing you with trapped gas! MAN....what would you do without her? You are one lucky girl! You should be nicer to your sister. She sounds like a real GEM!
